At the instance of the Regional Accounts Committee set-up by the Government of India in the Department of Statistics, the Government of Madhya Pradesh, in line with other State Governments, took-up the work of economic and purpose classification of the State government budget on the basis of uniform methodology prepared by the Central Statistical Organisation, Government of India (G.O.I.). The economic classification shows the extent of capital formation out of the budgetary resources, savings of the government and the contribution of the government to the net domestic product, while the purpose classification deals with the classification of the government expenditure according to different types of services provided directly or financed by the State government through current or capital grants or loans. |

The present issue is aimed at giving the estimates of Gross Fixed Capital Formation (at current prices) for the entire economy, i.e., public and private sectors. The publication has been divided into three parts. Part-I gives a brief introduction, concepts, definition and methodology adopted for preparation of these estimates. Part-II presents statements of Gross Fixed Capital Formation in Madhya Pradesh by industries of use, ownership, etc. Part-III includes supplementary information relevant to these estimates. |
