   Mehidpur is situated about 56 kms.from Ujjain on the bank of holy river Khsipra. It is an old Historical City, history begin from chalcholithic  or pre-Harrappan period. This reason got economic and cultural importance  in 11th Century (Parmar Period) this indicating by number of old remains & temples. Later it was Khasgi region of Holker State in 1817,great battle between British & Maratha Holker held here British Army won & a mandsur treaty in 6 Jan 1818 was assigned. People of Mehidpur actively Participated in Quit India and National Movement.

Time Table

       This college was established with the name of Mehidpur College on 23rd August 1969. All the activities of college was conducted by Mehidpur Shiksha Vikas Samiti. After taking over by the Govt. on 15th August 1973 college was renamed as Government College Mehidpur.

This College has been shifted its own building in 12th Aug. 1989 and it acquire tatal 4.452 hect. area. there are total  Nine classrooms , five lab. and seven other rooms including Library with Play ground .   our College has not any general Hall.
       
         College is affiliated with Vikram University, Ujjain. In the beginning college had graduation courses for Commerce and Arts only. M.Com. was added since 1981-82. P.G. classes of  Economics & Geography was started from 1983. Science faculty was started from 1984-85. Recently P.G. classes for M.A. in Hindi and Political Science  is started under  Self-Finance Scheme.
