The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, New Delhi has entrusted of National Highways in Madhya Pradesh to Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, Public Works Department for maintenance and construction through Gazettee Notification under NH Act. Hence a separate zone i.e. National Highway Zone has been established by Government of M.P. Public Works Department, which is headed by Chief Engineer. Some lengths of NHs are entrusted by MORT&H to NHAI for the widening to 4/6 laning of North-South, East-West Corridors and Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation Limited (BOND-BOT Scheme). The works is carried out as approved by the MORT&H and state PWD works as an agency for MORT&H.National Highway zone is now maintaining 14 National Highway with total length of 3714 Kms. as per guidelines, directions and Funds made available by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways with the help of Ministry's Regional Office at Ist Floor, D- Wing, Satpura Bhawan, Bhopal.
