STATUS OF WORK
COMPLETED, IN PROGRESS AND PROPOSED
UNDER B.O.T. SCHEME
Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country in initiating the private sector investment for construction of bridges and roads. Presently the Department has completed twelve bridges and one bye-pass under private sector investment and three roads, Ring Road of Shivpuri Town and five bridges are in progress under private investment.
The Maintenance of Highways is also taken up under B.O.T. in view of the fact that the funds made available for maintance are only 35 to 40 percent of the requirement. Madhya Pradesh was the first State to give road maintenance under B.O.T.
The response to B.O.T. projects is encouraging and by making the projects viable, more and more entrepreneurs are coming for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridge works in the State.
The following roads have been given under B.O.T.
In addition to above 27 roads & bridge projects are ready and bids are being invited. The work includes reconstruction of distressed bridges, culverts, strengthening of weak reaches and maintenance of roads including renewal @20% every year.(1) Bhopal Dewas road (143 km.) is given for maintenance w.e.f. 4.5.97 for 3 years. The contractor is renewing 20% of the road by 5 cm. thick B.M. & 2 cm. thick MSS. He is doing patch repair works, providing hard shoulders, construction of drains, fixing of road sign boards etc. In addition to this, the contractor is paying Rs.146.00 lakhs per year to the State Government in quarterly installments.
(2) Mandsaur Byepass costing about Rs. 600.00 lakhs having a length of 14 kms. has been completed under B.O.T. In this work, the contractor have also paid Rs.100.00 lakhs for land compensation.
(3) Recently, Jaora-Ratlam-Badnagar-Nagda-Lebad Road including Ratlam Byepass (length 130.4km.) with total cost of the work about Rs. 2518.0 lakhs, has been given for maintenance & reconstruction of bridges and culverts undre B.O.T. In this, reconstruction of 2 medium bridges, 10 culverts and strengthening of 2 km. length, patch repairs, construction of hard shoulders and other maintenance works will be done by the contractor. Also 20% renewal of the road by S.D.B.C. with P.C.C. surface will also be done by the firm each year. Initial work is likely to be completed shortly.
(4) Jaora-Mandsaur-Neemuch-Nayagaon road, (103 km. length) has also been given under B.O.T. The total cost is about Rs. 1124.00 lakhs. This includes, reconstruction of 3 medium bridges, 15 culverts, patch repairs, 20% renewal by S.D.B.C. with P.C.C. every year construction of hard shoulders, construction of drains and other maintenance works which will be done by the Contractor. Initial work for above project is completed.
(5) Indore-Ujjain Road (length 58 kms.) Strengthening, maintenance and construction of 1 bridge and 2 culverts on Indore-Sawer-Ujjain road including Sawer Byepass is awarded on contract.
(6) Construction of Shivpuri Byepass road costing about Rs. 250.00 lakhs.
(7) Construction of 5 bridges is in progress (4 bridges on Raipur-Bilaspur road & one bridge in Rewa town on NH-7).
